World AIDS Day: Breaking the silence


Any of today's youth have always co-existed with HIV/AIDS and know no other world where the disease does not exist.Since HIV/AIDS is no longer considered a death sentence, as many continue to live long after their diagnosis, it seems that members of society have put their guard down regarding the matterHowever, the number of those infected around the world is escalating each day.According to the United Stated Agency for International Development (USAID), more than 33 million individuals across the globe are infected with HIV.The organization goes on to state that two million people worldwide lost their lives to HIV/AIDS in 2008.

If those figures aren't enough to call for a pause then perhaps the statistics localized in our community will be reason for alarm.
